This spring I’ve been busy photographing graduates. I had a graduate myself, which made me all the more attuned to what an important milestone high school graduation is. One chapter is ending, and another is beginning. These kids aren’t leaving us forever, but they will be forever changed by their new found independence and college experiences. This transition is tremendous; a time in life that deserves to be celebrated and, of course, captured! Now that the ceremonies have come and gone and the weather is warming up, it is finally starting to feel like summer.
For my family, summer’s arrival means a change of location. In a couple weeks we will fill our car with suitcases, three dogs, a bird, and two mice and transplant the family to Leland, Michigan for most of the summer. My children have grown up spending their summers in beautiful Northern Michigan, where the pace is slow, and they are surrounded by extended family and summer friends. I feel blessed to be able to balance my responsibilities at the studio with my family's love of spending summers up north.
The Wilmette studio will be open by appointment only after June 16th, and will not officially re-open with regular hours until the week of August 29th. I will be checking phone messages, and will be accessible via email throughout the summer. If your vacation plans should happen to take you to the Leelanau Peninsula, please call or email to make arrangements if you are interested in an outdoor session! Enjoy your summer!
